Celebrity Sensationalism Today
March 4th, 2008
I have to admit, I enjoy know what celebrity’s are up to. I read People and keep and eye on TMZ.com with a grain a salt. What amazes me is over the last few years, the gap between celebrity and the average Joe has closed.
Last week was the Ocsar’s. The best of the best (at least according to the academy), to honor those in and that had a part in making of the movie. Now it used to be this is how we saw the celebrity outside of their acting. We used to wait all year to see a room full of stars decked out in tuxedo’s and evening gowns.
The Internet and Social Media has changed that, we now instantly what our favorite celeb is up to (good or bad). Since the internet, stars have posted scheduled of concerts, movie openings, in their own person blogs. MySpace, FaceBook, and even Twitter have allowed fans to even interact.
So I ask, do we look at stars differently since the internet, is it a good thing or a bad thing?
I think its a good thing. I now look at IMDb every time I watch a movie or a television show. I like seeing people that were in other movies or what else they done or trivia about the movie.
So for those stars that have given us a glimpse into your life... thank you.
