Gadget Addiction...

I sold my iPhone last week and ordered the new one, left using a basic cell phone for communication, and missing my iPhone terribly. I went as far to admit, I am addicted to my iPhone.

2 years ago, I watched the Keynote address at MacWorld with Apple CEO Steve Jobs and he reveals that that rumor is true. Apple, that has dominated the MP3 market with the iPod, is in fact getting into cell phones. But not any phone, the “iPhone”. My thought, so what!, I have a Blackberry, and it does just fine, why do I need another phone.

Then I played with one. I was in awe, smooth interface, sharp UI, sturdy quality, I was sold. An this was before the App store. Now 2 years later, I live for my phone. Checking the weather, reading the news, answering email, playing a game or 4, paying bills online, checking traffic, and yes even making phone calls. I cannot understand how I functioned without it.

I have a good friend who put it this way. I need to follow the 12 steps of the iIA (iPhone Independents Association).
Step 1 is admitting that you are powerless without your iphone.
Step 2 come to the belief that there is another phone better than the old iPhone.
Step 3 is to make the decision to turn towards the new iPhone.
Step 4 is to make a "fearless inventory" of all your old iPhone applications and put them onto the new iPhone.
Step 5 admit to everyone that the iPhone rocks.
Step 6 is that you are entirely ready for Apple to have removed all of the bugs from the old iPhone and are prepared for more new and exciting ones on the new iPhone.
Step 7 is to not brag too much about getting the new iPhone.
Step 8 is to make a list of all of your contacts, for back up purposes, just in case the new iPhone implodes.
Step 9 is to make amends with the old iPhone.
Step 10 is continue to add more and more contacts and applications on your new iPhone without feeling guilty.
Step 11 is to acknowledge and apologize to those you hurt by bragging about the new features on the phone.
Step 12 is to readily admit that you are nothing without the higher power of the iPhone!

Now four days before my new iPhone arrives, I sit here, checking the order status for glimpse that its closer to getting to me. New case sitting next me, ready to protect the addition.

Is this something any of you could relate to? As always, I would like to know what you think (and yes I feel powerless without it).
